Christmas Time with The Lost Brothers

News

The Lost Brothers have a really nice Christmas charity single available this year called “Little Angel” with some trademark harmonies, pedal steel and brass!

It’s available for free download on Soundcloud but the band asks that people who download the song make a donation to a children's charity of their choice. It’s also available from all good digital stores with 100% of the profit going to UNICEF which all sounds very reasonable.

Another Messy Christmas by Dan Michaelson

News

As the nights draw in and the snow begins to settle, spare a thought for Mrs Christmas this festive season. Whilst Santa enjoys celebrity status and waltzing off on his annual world tour, Mrs Christmas hits the Sherry and gets a few things off her chest.

'Another Messy Christmas' by Dan Michaelson is released as a free download this week and tells the story from the side of Santa's ever tolerant wife, who has spent at least the last 250 Christmases keeping herself warm.

Frank Zappa's APOSTROPHE (') is reissued on vinyl

News

Here's an original idea for a Christmas gift for the musical connoisseur of the family. As part of a Universal Records reissue of four LPs on vinyl by Stereo MC's, Siouxsie & The Banshees and  Level 42. The Zappa Family Trust have released a freshly remastered 40th Anniversary Edition of Frank Zappa’s Apostrophe (’) on 180-gram vinyl. Cut directly from the original quarter-inch stereo analog master tapes, the special edition of the iconic 1974 album is out now in time for Christmas.

Including “Don’t Eat The Yellow Snow” and “Cosmik Debris” amongst its original nine tracks, Apostrophe (’) was actually Frank's highest-charting album, peaking at No. 10 on the Billboard 200. The Gold-certified album has been remastered for vinyl by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering and manufactured for the world at Pallas Group in Germany.

Zappa was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and received the GRAMMY® Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. The official biography: Frank Zappa, American composer, fl. 1940-1993.

Amen Dunes releasing 'Cowboy Worship' EP in January

News

Amen Dunes is releasing his 'Cowboy Worship' EP on 19th January as a follow up to his album 'Love' that came out earlier this year via Sacred Bones. The first song has been revealed

Speaking about new track, Damon McMahon aka. Amen Dunes said “I tried this one solo and it didn't feel right.  Thankfully Ben lived upstairs and was up for playing.  He came down and we didn't have to say much to each other, which was a sign it would work.  There isn't much talking in Amen Dunes; things either flow naturally or not at all'.

Cowboy Worship is an attempt to give life to some of the music that didn’t make it onto 'Love' From a blown-out version of ‘Green Eyes’ featuring Harvey Milk’s Stephen Tanner, to a darker and mellower ‘I Can’t Dig It’ as Damon McMahon originally arranged it upon writing the song in China.

Many of the original intentions for the music that were lost in the Love sessions are revived. In addition there is a band version of Through Donkey Jaw’s ‘Lezzy Head’, featuring Dunes mainstays Jordi Wheeler and Parker Kindred, and the cover of This Mortal Coil’s interpretation of the Tim Buckley's   ‘Song to the Siren’, featuring Ben Greenberg (Hubble) on guitar.
