Tips for Glasto 2014

News

Our tips for Glasto, just in case you are online in your tent or, fast forwarding though the TV coverage;

1.    Royal Blood (John Peel Stage, Saturday 14:00-14:40)
Loud enough to make your ears bleed. Well, not quite, but this duo are nothing but raw power. Get ready; it’s going to be loud.

2.    Tune-Yards (West Holts Stage, Friday 19:00-20:00)
Get ready to dance the night in with Tune-Yards on the West Holts stage. The obvious plus is that the Brothers cider bus is an arms length away.

3.    Temples (John Peel Stage, Friday 15:00-15:40)
A contender for album of the year, this 70’s-esqe rock band will blow you away with their toxic guitar riffs and nifty hair cuts.

4.    Metallica (Pyramid stage, Saturday (21:45-23:45)
The much talked about headline set from Metallica is bound to be full of hits, and maybe the odd explosion or too.

5.    Fatboy Slim (Sonic, Saturday 22:30-00:30)
If Metallica aren't your thing then head over to Sonic. Having already stormed We Are Fstvl early in the summer, get ready to dance, dance dance.

Duo Tweedy

News

Jeff Tweedy of Wilco will release a new solo (ish) album on 15th September through his own dBpm Records called Sukierae (sue-key-ray). Not quite a solo LP It is the debut release by duo,Tweedy, which features 20 new Jeff Tweedy-written songs, performed by Jeff in a musical collaboration with his 18-year-old son and drummer Spencer Tweedy.

“When I set out to make this record, I imagined it being a solo thing, but not in the sense of one guy strumming an acoustic guitar and singing,” Jeff said. “Solo to me meant that I would do everything – write the songs, play all the instruments and sing. But Spencer's been with me from the very beginning demo sessions, playing drums and helping the songs take shape. In that sense, the record is kind of like a solo album performed by a duo.”

With Spencer on drums, Jeff is also joined by Scott McCaughey, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of the Brooklyn-band Lucius. Take a list to the first song streamed for the project, ‘I’ll Sing It’ and U.S. Tour details are HERE.
