The return of Dan Michaelson and The Coastguards
- News
Great news to report the return of Dan Michaelson and The Coastguards who will release their new album ‘Distance’ through The State51 Conspiracy on 18th August, with ‘Burning Hearts’ being the first single out on the 4th August.
An impressively quick follow up to last year's ‘Blindspot’, Dan Michaelson returns to a full-band sound on what he describes as a ‘misleadingly upbeat’ first single from the LP. A romantic tale of two lovers dancing their way towards the end of the world.
Produced and mixed by Ash Workman, the album was written in Montauk, Long Island NY and recorded in sunny Hackney in London. Joining Dan in the studio were Magic Number Romeo Stodart (bass), Henry Spenner (drums), Laurie Earle (guitar and piano), Horse (guitar and pedal steel), Gabriel Stebbing (cello) and Johnny Flynn (violin).
So that is something to look forward too next month!

Rick Rosas replaces Billy Talbot on Neil Young & Crazy Horse Euro Tour
- News
Sad news to hear that Crazy Horse bassist, Billy Talbot, has suffered a mild stroke. This means for the first time ever Billy will miss a Crazy Horse tour with Neil Young. The good news is that "Talbot's doctors expect him to make a full recovery," the group said in a statement but, "They have advised Talbot to sit this tour out and recover his strength."
Billy's place will be ably filled by Neil Young's long time bassist Rick Rosas and Mahogany Blue's Dorene Carter and YaDonna West will also join the tour, filling in for Billy's backing vocals.
Neil and Crazy Horse had to cut short their Euro tour last summer because of an ongoing injury to guitarist Frank "Poncho" Sampedro's hand.
