Kevin from Cambridge shares his Top Tens for the year
Albums
1.Nick Cave and Warren Ellis - Carnage
Very hard to choose between these albums, all favourites on the day, depending on mood. Carnage seems to sum up the year, a mix of humour, sadness and conflicting emotions. Poetic lyrics set to minimal sounds. Nick Cave always seems to made the right music for the times, from the youthful insanity of Release the Bats through those amazing live sets at Glastonbury and elsewhere, and now in the mellow intensity of his later work.
2. Viagra Boys - Welfare Jazz
3. Bob Vylan - We Live Here
4. Cassandra Jenkins - An Overview on Phenomenal Nature
5. Dry Cleaning - New Long Leg
6. The War on Drugs - I Don’t Live Here Anymore
7. Public Service Broadcasting - Bright Magic
8. Richard Dawson and Circle - Henki
9. Low - Hey What
10. Stick in the Wheel - Tonebeds for Poetry
Live Sets
1.Mr Jukes and Barney Artist - Moseley Jazz, Funk and Soul Festival
My first festival, and virtually my first live music, for many many months! Nervous at first, quickly moving to euphoria. These things that we once just took for granted. They were the last act of the weekend, an unlikely change of style from Jack of Bombay Bicycle Club, with his good friend Barney, who he found via a Spotify playlist. Jack quietly beaming, Barney rapping and engaging the crowd. They said it was their best ever gig, so full of fun and love and emotion -both the band, and us the audience!
2.Waterboys - Moseley Folk Festival
3.Frank Turner - Moseley Folk Festival
4.Peat and Diesel - Moseley Folk Festival
5.The Wonder Stuff - Moseley Folk Festival
