GHXST reside in Brooklyn and are Shelley X, Chris Wild and Nathan La Guerra  and they play “Doom Grunge”

Hi and how are you today?

SX: hey Rock Club!

Where did your band name come from?

SX: GHOST w/ an X

How did the three of you come to be in a band together and with what ambitions?

SX: We met in Cali and played around separately for a while before we finally formed GHXST in NYC. As people we’re pretty different, but we share an alternative spirit / existential angst that feels really crazy and special.

How would to describe your sound for people yet to hear your music?

CW: doom grunge

Are you still based in New York and if so, how is the music scene there, does Brooklyn still rule the roost and, how easy is it to get a gig in your home city?

CW: NYC’s still home for us... and definitely the best shows to play are the intimate/one-off parties you throw for fun

You were over on a UK tour last year.. What were the highest and lowest points of that tour and, can we expect you back anytime soon?

SX: Playing to new crowds and meeting you sexy people afterwards ;)

How would you sum up your 2012 and how do hope 2013 pans out for the band?

SX: 2012 was like driving down a lost highway in our Black Camaro

CW: for 2013, any time there’s a new Bowie album it’s fantastic for alternative culture.

Do you have any art work in mind already for your next album and how many songs do you have recorded?

SX: yep, we’re recording our next EP right now!

When on tour who controls the Radio/CD player in the van and what were the most popular albums you listened to on the road last year?

Lou Reed - Transformer, Placebo - B3 EP, Mazzy Star - She Hangs Brightly, White Zombie - Astro Creep: 2000, and Solange - True EP

Finally, What is your advice to new bands out there - record label or do it yourself when it comes to getting your music heard, and does that also mean giving your music away for free these days?

SX: Write music honestly, share it widely, and hopefully the right people will wanna support you doing this crazy music thing 4 life
