Hi and how the devil are you today, in the Christmas spirit yet?
Hi! We are wonderful thank you. If by the Christmas spirit you mean we are eating loads of food and enjoying an array of beverages, then we are festive all year round.
New album release on the horizon, take a step back and tell us how the band came together?
We have been together for about 3 years, although Ian and Nick knew each from previous bands. Francesca was found lurking in a second hand clothes shop and Luca was recommended by an acquaintance of ours. We all had such different influences, so we thought ‘hey, let’s start a band!’
From those first few band meetings is life in 2012 as expected?
Well we certainly haven’t played Glastonbury as many times as expected. From the beginning we had vague goals which have definitely grown over the years, but having completed a debut album we are proud of and feeling like a tight musical outfit, things could be worse.
Just where does Fra's voice come from?
Francesca is Italian so we do get a lot of queries about where her quirky voice comes from. It must be that Friuli mountain flavour that you are referring to.
Will there be any physical release of the new record next year?
There is no definite plan just yet, but if the demand is there, how could we refuse! We are making a limited run of hand-made CD’s for the Launch gig at Paper Dress Vintage, running with our DIY ethos so that our fans have something physical in their hands to take home and enjoy made personally by us.
Who designed the art work for the album?
That would be Luca our bass player; he is always hiding away some little talent that he seems to just mention at the right time. For instance, he never played bass guitar before he joined the band. The concept was something the band had been throwing around for a few months and Luca went out to buy some oil paints and just threw it together one day.
What do you think are your Top Three albums of 2012?
· Lonerisim – Tame Impala
· Locked Down – Dr. John
· Blunderbuss – Jack White
What do you think will be the biggest factor in your push for more success next year?
Getting on the road and playing these tracks to audiences around the country to promote the album to get people really excited about what we do. We are living in a world now where the passion people get from music is very much rooted in the gigs and shows bands put on, it’s all about people coming together to enjoy themselves and hopefully we can help them and do that.
If one of your songs was chosen for a Commercial, what would be your response?
It’s not 1972, you can’t turn your nose up to such things anymore, and any kind of promotion would be great, so long as it doesn’t conflict heavily on our morals. We would love to hear one our tracks sandwiched between an episode of Simpsons and the News bulletin.
Where were your first and last gigs and the memories?
Where would you most like to play a gig?
Every time we write a new track or record a track and get excited, Nick just shouts “GLASTO!”, but truthfully the best gig to play would be in our own backyard at Brixton Academy; by far we think is the best venue in London.
Is it Band 24/7 or is there downtime and if so, how do you spend it?
We like to think we have lives outside of the band but it can be a bit surprising how much non-band stuff we do together, we are our own little family. I guess it doesn’t help we all live in walking distance from each other!
Who controls the radio or CD player in the tour van?
It always appears to be a fight to the death, the winner is usually the one who calls shotgun before we get in the car, and then you will always hear the moans from the back seats. You snooze you lose I say.
