Another new band and the start of a buzz …. But will it last? I wander into the local record store, Temples – Sun Structures, tasty looking vinyl, oh well, stick the in-store headphones on and press play ….WOW!!! The opening cords slam the time machine door shut and sends you spinning, back to the land of The Hollies, The Small Faces, The Stones (Satanic Majesties  era), The Yardbirds, and The Pretty Things. Long could the list run. I guess the kids in Temples have grown up on their parents or even Grandparents record collections because they have just nailed themselves with the title of the youngest old band on the planet!

Temples formed in 2012, find themselves on the cover of music magazines from NME to this month’s Shindig and could just spark a treasure hunt by the kids today to go into their record store looking precisely for their own music heritage. Don’t think for a minute that Temples are copyists, far from it, they have grabbed a musical era and brought it up to date with a skill to be commended. Much like playing the Blues or Jazz, today's skilled musicians can bring their chosen eras of musical heritage right up-to-date.

Nightbeats from the States have redeveloped this sound,The Strypes are youngsters plying their trade in rhythm and blues, The Temperance Movement in 70’s rock but the last band over here to gain any real commercial recognition with  60/70’s Physch  leanings was perhaps Kular Shaker. The mantle has now beenfirmly passed to the next generation and I can’t wait to see this band live (NME Awards Shows) in March!
