Kentucky’s 26 year-old, Tyler Childers has announced details of his debut album, ‘Purgatory’, set for release via Thirty Tigers on 5th January, 2018. Tyler will support the album release with a short UK tour, including a date at London’s Omeara on 30th January 30, 2018
Tyler recorded his 10-track debut, that takes into account the singles ‘Lady May’, ‘Universal Sound’ and ‘Whitehouse Road’, with Sturgill Simpson and David Ferguson (Johnny Cash, U2) sitting in on production duties.
Speaking about the album, Tyler says: “I am extremely grateful for Miles Miller introducing me to Sturgill Simpson, and also for Sturgill and David Ferguson taking the time to work with me. I think we all wanted to make an album for East KY, and I reckon that’s what we did. It’s not about rock, or grass, or country...it’s just hollerin’ in the mountains and stirring shit up! The band Sturgill and David put together was an all-star cast, and an honour to work with and learn from. I hope to do it again, but once is more than most are blessed with. For that I am thankful.”
Tyler will support the album release with a 4-date UK run as part of a wider European tour which follows Tyler’s sold-out date at London’s Slaughtered Lamb this summer. This time beginning at Brighton’s Komedia on 29th January 29, 2018, Tyler will then move to London and Manchester before concluding at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections 3rd February.
